How To Check CBD Oil Quality

Many use CBD oils every day for a variety of things. Lotions, balms, vape pens, and so much more! Often they will buy oil that doesn’t work. It may be the oil quality, the process is was produced, or it is not transparent enough. In this article, we will guide you and how to purchase and check the quality of your CBD oils.

How To Check CBD Oil Quality

You can check CBD oil quality by reading the label, knowing the company you’re buying from, reading online reviews, and having lab test results. These are the most important things that you can do to ensure that you get a product that you can be happy you purchased.

Read The Label

Make sure that your CBD oil is hemp based to avoid having high concentrations of THC. Only products with a THC concentration of less than 0.3% are legal under US federal law

If you are looking for pure CBD, check the label to see if it is CBD isolate- This is the purest form of CBD without any other chemicals, including THC, which is the cannabinoid in cannabis plants that makes you high. When reading the label, make sure you know what you’re getting. You could be getting any of the following:

  • CBD isolate – the purest form of CBD with no THC or other cannabinoids.
  • Broad-spectrum CBD – Has all the natural compounds of cannabis or hemp except THC.
  • Full-spectrum- has all the extracts from the cannabis plant, including up to %0.03 THC.

You also don’t want to purchase products that are made with “hemp seed oil”, because it contains no usable amount of CBD. Make sure the ingredients of your chosen product make a mention of cannabidiol or hemp extract. The product can contain hemp seed oil, but it cannot be the only hemp ingredient for it to be considered CBD oil.

Pay attention to the carrier oil that your CBD oil was made of. CBD oils are made from various types of oils, from MCT to olive oil. Even hempseed oil can be used as a carrier oil, but the ingredients label should still contain mention of cannabidiol or hemp extract.

Make sure your CBD content isn’t low. The more CBD in the product, the more effective it will be. You may pay more, but you don’t want to buy low end, diluted products, either. Try to find a CBD strength that’s right for you.

The top three places in the united states for high-quality CBD oils are Oregon, Colorado, and Kentucky, so when you’re reading your labels, having one of those on it is a good sign.

Make Sure The Product Has Batch Testing

The best, highest quality CBD products will come with a certificate of authenticity or lab test results. They may either include this in the package that your product comes in or, as it popular right now, including a QR code on the bottle or package that you can scan to be able to see your lab results. This will give you a chemical breakdown of what’s in your product, and includes how much CBD is in it and possibly other cannabinoids, as well.

Be careful; only about 31% of CBD products have been found to be accurately labeled. Some may have a higher concentration than what is on the label, while others may have a lower concentration.

If your product is advertised to be full-spectrum CBD, you want to look at your certificate of authenticity for compounds such as CBDA, CBN, CBG, and CBC. THC will also be present in full-spectrum CBD products.

Know The Company You’re Buying From

The brand of CBD oil that you’re interested in purchasing should have an online presence, such as a website, physical address, and a way to contact them about their products. This is why we don’t recommend buying CBD products from gas stations; these are often resellers who simply slap their own brand name on the product and distribute it through wholesalers and getting in touch with these companies can be difficult. The more contactable they are, the better chance you have at their products being decent. Products sold in gas stations and such are also less likely to have the lab testing data available as we discussed above and if they don’t have that, there’s no way for you to know what you’re really getting.

Read The Reviews Online

Next, look for reviews online of the products before you make a purchase. They should have good reviews for their products and great reviews for their customer service. It’s one thing to have an acceptable product, but it’s quite another if you can’t get the company to help you out if something goes wrong. The customer service reputation will tell you how much the company cares about you; if they care about you, they likely care about what goes into their products, as well.

How to Buy Quality CBD Oil

First, you will need to know or determine why you want to use CBD oils. Once you know, do your homework. Figure out do you want a CBD oil or something a little more potent with THC. Make sure the quality is good, as listed above. Once you have found the one you want to try, make sure you check and get a product that lists the CBD levels. Keep in mind CBD oils are used for many things. If you are using this medically, we recommend you speak to your doctor about what product may be best for you.
