Hemp Seed Oil Vs CBD Oil

Today we are going to discuss the many factors of hemp seed oils and CBD oils. We will find the benefits of both and what they can help with medical conditions and more.

What Is Hemp Seed Oil?

Hemp seed oil is simply the oil pressed out of the tiny brown seed found in the hemp plants and contains extremely little CBD. They do, however, have many vitamins and minerals good for the body and skin. The oils are used in many different ways to help with a variety of symptoms of medical conditions.

To be clear: hemp seed oil is not the same as CBD oil and contains so little CBD that it may as well be non-existent.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD oil is made from cannabis or hemp plant leaves and flowers (not the seeds) and doesn’t produce a high.

Even though CBD is the same chemical compound whether produced from hemp or cannabis, the legality of it isn’t the same. When CBD is produced from hemp, it’s legal under US federal law as of 2018. When CBD is produced from cannabis or “marijuana”, it remains a controlled substance according to federal law and the DEA.

CBD oils are commonly found in vape pens, and bottled oil drops for oral consumption, and even creams and lotions for the skin.

What Types Of CBD Oil Are Available?

CBD oil is available in various different forms. The most effective is typically considered to be full spectrum CBD, which is made from the whole plant (leaves, stems, and flower). CBD isolate is also available and this means that this oil contains CBD only and doesn’t contain any other cannabinoids, terpenes, or other chemical compounds from the plant after processing. Other cannabinoids that may be present in full-spectrum CBD products may be CBG, CBC, THC, CBN, etc.

CBD isolates and THC-free distillates are useful for people who live in states where any amount of THC in the product makes it illegal, even though US federal law states that the maximum amount of THC can be only 0.3%. If you’re concerned about popping a drug test at work, then you would need to stick to CBD products that are either isolates or THC-free distillates.

Benefits of Hemp Seed Oil

According to many doctors across the country and Webmd, hemp seed oil has many benefits for the human body. Did you know that three tablespoons of hemp seed oil can contain up to:

  • Fiber – 5% DV
  • Protein – 22% DV
  • Iron – 16% DV
  • Magnesium – 48% DV
  • Phosphorous – 48% DV
  • Vitamin E – 21% DV
  • Zinc – 23% DV

Hemp seed oil can also help heart health because it contains Omega-3 and Omega-6. It also helps with the hair, skin, nails, digestion, joint pain, and arthritis. There are many wow factors with hemp seed oils.

Benefits of CBD Oil

In June of 2018, the FDA approved Epidiolex, a plant-based formulation of CBD oils, to help with many health issues. The test they ran claimed to have lowered seizures by 44% in case studies of those two years old and older. In other studies, CBD oils help with many forms of pain, anxiety, help some cancer patients, some cases of depression, and some studies show it can help with severe acne! Keep in mind that full spectrum CBD oils may contain a small amount of THC, with the legal limit being 0.3% to be legal federally in the US.

So, depending on what you need, hemp seeds oils or CBD oils, you can find what may help. Be sure to consult your doctor on what’s best, especially if you are on any other medications. Mixing the two can cause severe health issues.

Be Careful When Buying CBD Products

When you’re purchasing CBD products, you don’t want to have hemp seed oil on the list of ingredients in most cases, because hemp seed oil by itself doesn’t contain CBD at all. There’s a difference between the ingredient “CBD oil” and “hemp seed oil” or “hemp oil”. Hemp oil likely doesn’t contain CBD, while hemp seed oil will certainly not. Oil from the seeds alone isn’t considered to be CBD oil at all.

To be safe, purchase products that tell you how much CBD they contain and don’t mention hemp seed oil as a primary ingredient. The last thing you want to do is pay premium prices for something that contains no CBD at all.
